FREE MATH ASSESSMENT • AGES 4–15

Online Math Help for Kids, Ages 4 to 15

Homework tears, “I’m just bad at math,” or a report card that doesn’t match what you see at home? At every age the program works the same way: a free math assessment, one course picked for your child, and short lessons at home.

How the Math Program Works (At Any Age)

Whatever your child’s age, the steps are the same. Only the lessons change.

1

Take the free math assessment

Enter your email, pick your child’s grade, and answer a few quick questions. It takes about 3 minutes.

2

We pick the right course

The results show your child’s strengths, the math gaps to work on, and the one course that fits. No menu, no guessing.

3

Short lessons at home

Short math lessons with practice checks, so skills build week by week instead of all at once.

4

Support from Dr. Nancy

Every plan includes the Skool Parent Community: Dr. Nancy’s private parent group with weekly live sessions, all recorded.

Built by Dr. Nancy Barker, Ed.D.

Dr. Nancy has spent almost 50 years in education. Read Like Rocky turns that experience into a simple plan for parents: find out where your child really is in math, then work on the right skills in the right order, a little at a time. And you’re not on your own: the Skool Parent Community gives you weekly live sessions with Dr. Nancy, recorded so you can watch any time.

Math Help by Age

Here’s what children usually work on at each age. The assessment shows exactly where your child is.

Math Help for Ages 4–6 (Pre-K to 1st Grade)

Early math is about number sense: really understanding what numbers mean.

What kids this age work on

  • Counting objects and knowing “how many”
  • Comparing numbers: more, less and the same
  • Adding and subtracting small numbers
  • Shapes, patterns and simple measuring

The math assessment starts at kindergarten. For a 4-year-old who isn’t in school yet, choose Kindergarten.

Math Help for Ages 7–9 (2nd to 4th Grade)

Kids build the facts and place-value skills that later math sits on.

What kids this age work on

  • Place value: ones, tens and hundreds
  • Adding and subtracting with regrouping
  • Multiplication and division facts
  • First fractions, time and money
  • Word problems: knowing which operation to use

Common signs parents notice: counting on fingers long after classmates stop, or freezing on word problems.

Math Help for Ages 10–12 (5th to 7th Grade)

This is when fractions and pre-algebra show up, and when many kids start to feel lost.

What kids this age work on

  • Fractions and decimals: adding, multiplying and dividing
  • Ratios, rates and percents
  • Negative numbers and order of operations
  • Expressions and simple equations
  • Area, volume and data

Gaps from earlier grades often show up here. The assessment finds where the trouble really starts.

Math Help for Teens Ages 13–15 (8th to 10th Grade)

Teens move into algebra and geometry, where every new topic depends on the one before.

What kids this age work on

  • Solving linear equations and inequalities
  • Graphs, slope and functions
  • Pre-algebra to Algebra I skills
  • Geometry, the Pythagorean theorem and proofs

Right now the free math assessment covers grades K–8. For a 9th or 10th grader, choose 8th grade: it shows whether the middle-school foundations are solid, which is where much high-school math trouble starts.

Math Help for Teens 16 and Older

Our math courses run through 12th grade. Since the free assessment checks K–8 skills today, older teens should start at 8th grade to confirm their foundations. Questions about upper-level math? Contact us.

Math Program FAQ

Is the math assessment really free?

Yes. Enter your email, answer the questions (about 3 minutes), and you’ll see your child’s math results right away. We also email you a private link.

Do I have to choose a math course?

No. The assessment picks the one course that fits your child’s results, so you don’t have to figure out a level.

Can this help with math anxiety?

Lessons start where your child is, not where the class is, so kids get early wins on skills they can actually do and build up from there.

What is the Skool Parent Community?

It’s Dr. Nancy’s private online group for parents (Skool is the name of the platform, not a school). It includes weekly live sessions with Dr. Nancy, and every session is recorded so you can watch later. It’s included with your plan.

How much does it cost?

Plans start at $89/month for one course or $129/month for two courses. You can also buy a single course one time for $597. Every plan has a 7-day money-back guarantee. Your child’s results page shows the options after the assessment.

Who is Dr. Nancy Barker?

Dr. Nancy Barker, Ed.D., has spent almost 50 years in education. She created Read Like Rocky to give parents a clear, simple plan for helping their child at home.
